There is a very useful site 9292ov that tells you step by step how to get from A to B. One great feature is that you can plan your journey ahead and it will show you a map of your departure and arrival areas so no need to get lost.  It is very simple to use; all you need to know is the address of where you are and where you want to be.  The handy thing is that when you open the map provided it also shows you the areas where you can load your OV Chipkaart.

Public Transport Chip Card (OV Chipkaart)

City by city the Netherlands is migrating to the Public Transport Chip Card (OV Chipkaart) as the preferred way of paying for public transportation. The card is designed to replace paper tickets and can be used in the three large cities in the Netherlands, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and the Hague. (When using the attached site use the navigation in the body of the main window to get around. If you use the navigation in the pink bar on top you will be taken to the Dutch site)

Trams and Buses

HTM is the company that runs the trams and metro in Rotterdam.

To travel on the HTM busses or tram you can use your OV Chipkaart or buy a single journey ticket on the tram. Tickets or cards can be purchased from one of the following locations.
City center: HTM KLantenservice, Wagenstraat 35, Den Haag
Central Station: HTM Klantenservice Ticket Office
Station Hollands Spoor: HTM Klantenservice Ticket Office

Trains

The NS is the national train company and operates a very extensive and punctual service. You can check train times and fares on the following website. NS English Website . If you click on the Arrange and Buy link in the blue navigation bar at the top of the site you will see where and how you can buy tickets for the train. Remember to purchase your tickets before you board the train, if you are caught traveling without a valid ticket you will be charged a fine of €35 plus the cost of your ticket.

Airports

Rotterdam/the Hague Airport
Rotterdam has its own airport that is much smaller and easier to get through than Schiphol. There are daily flights to London as well as holiday destinations throughout Europe. Check out the link for up-to-date arrival and departure information as well as links for holiday offers.

Bus 33 provides a direct link from Rotterdam Centraal train station to the airport. The journey time is about 20 minutes and the busses run from early morning till around midnight.   

Schiphol

Schiphol is a major hub airport and is served by most major airlines. The airport has its own train station that connects to many cities around the country. You can be in the centre of Amsterdam within 15 minutes, Rotterdam in an hour and the Hague within 45 minutes. The attached link will provide you with up-to-date arrival and departure information.

You can also stay up to date with flight arrival and departures by downloading a free app for your iPhone. Unfortunately the instructions are in Dutch but pretty easy to follow!

Driving (incl. parking)

Driving in the Hague as in many Dutch cities can be challenging and is certainly something that takes a lot of getting used to. There are a lot of one-way streets and the number of things to watch out for bikes, pedestrians, trams etc,) makes it very difficult. The public transit system is excellent and if possible try get around using the tram or bus, it will save you some frustration and headache.

Finding street parking in the centre of the Hague is difficult so it may be worth using one of the multi story car parks around the city. The attached link provides information about parking rates and the location of garages in the city. Parking in the Hague
