The Atomium was built for the 1958 World Expo and has become an iconic part of the Brussels skyline. It is home to a permanent exhibition on the 50's as well as temporary exhibitions.
For individual visitors, the European Parliament offers multimedia-guided visits and, during part-sessions, the chance to attend a parliamentary sitting. Museum of the city of Brussels is located on Grand Place and provides a great history about the city including photos, models, and paintings of the city as well as other object d'art.
During the summer (from the National Holiday on July 21 to the beginning of September) certain rooms in the Royal Palace in Brussels are open to the public.
Rene Magritte Museum opened in 2009 and displays the works of the surrealist artist, which belong to the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium.
